Dakimakura Care Guide
Thank you for purchasing a dakimakura from InkedFur! We take pride in the quality and lasting material of our fabric products. These instructions differ slightly depending on the fabric you bought. With all our fabrics, we do not recommend washing them more than five to six times a year. While the fabric we use is durable, they will last longer the less you wash them. Keep dakimakura case outside of direct sunlight.
Only use body pillows that are 20 x 60 inches. We do not recommend buying them off eBay or Amazon because a lot of the time they are rather flat. All our dakimakuras are sized to work perfectly with pillows at royalpillow.com. While you can just stuff three regular pillows in a case, it can be a bit rougher on the stitching.
Our XL series dakimakuras are actually 19.5 x 63 inches (50 x 160 cm) and require larger body pillows.
A budget option would be to buy lots of stuffing from a place like Target and fill it directly. Our pillows have a zipper so it will hold the stuffing in it. This will make washing much harder though.
Smooth Knit
Turn dakimakura inside out and wash in cold water on delicates or bedding. Do not wash with any type of bleach. Use a light detergent, but only about a quarter of what you usually put in for a regular load. Dry on low heat for about 30 minutes and hang dry for the rest.
Short Plush
Turn dakimakura inside out and wash in cold water on delicates or bedding. Do not wash with any type of bleach. Use a light detergent, but only about a quarter of what you usually put in for a regular load. Hang dry in the shade or on a shower rod or tumble dry. We do not recommend heat due to the polyester fibers of the plush
Advanced 2-Way Tricot
It is always best to hand wash or dry clean this material. If you are unable to, wash on the most delicate setting with little detergence and hang or tumble dry.
What do you do with the dakimakura that arrives with creases in it? As we fold the dakimakuras to ship them, they will be prominent even after putting it on a pillow. To resolve this, take the dakimakura and put it in the dryer with a wet wash cloth or a couple wet socks. Dry it for 20-30 minutes on low heat and the creases will work themselves out. Do NOT do this for short plush fabric. This fabric can simply be smoothed out by giving it soft pets. Try it... it’s fun!
Limited Warranty: All dakimakuras have a one-year warranty to protect against stitching and tearing of fabric. If you experience issues with your dakimakura, please write staff@inkedfur.com, provide your original order number, and photos of the problem. If the issue is covered, we’ll have you mail it to us for a replacement. If we don’t have the dakimakura on hand, it may take up to six weeks to get it replaced. We stand behind all our products and take pride in our quality control.
For warranty to be covered, dakimakura must be free from abuse, stains, and harsh washing that goes against this guide. Extra shipping may be due for international orders. In cases where the design is no longer available, we may substitute the replacement for store credit equal to the price you paid originally. Dakimakuras on clearance or sold on eBay are not covered. Warranty cannot be transferred and will only be honored to the one who purchased the dakimakura.
